The Blasket Islands

2003 - An Blascaod Mór - The Great Blasket Island and the White Strand beach (An Trá Bán) a nursery ground for seals, the largest of its kind on the Atlantic coast.  There is a small tree growing out of the clochan which is in front of the cottage, and it's said to be the only tree on the island.  The islanders were evacuated in 1953 and taken to the mainland to form new lives in less bleak and hazardous conditions.
