Portrait and interview - 1993
Rosie works as a remedial masseuse and Shiatsu therapist, having moved to Totnes with her son Sam in 1987. Previously, she had been a graphic designer which included television graphics in Australia where she lived with her family for eight years.
Her work now ranges from sessions with the elderly at a nearby day centre to helping with the children’s clinic at the Centre for Oriental Medicine in Totnes. This is a great training centre for many forms of therapy but once qualified, there is a great deal of competition due to the large number of practitioners in the town.
Rosie and a colleague are planning to open two holistic centres, on in the area and another abroad, each working in their respective fields. This would enable them to divide their working lives and, with the course participants, enjoy the benefits of warmer climes.
